KEDAH TIN RING COCKEREL 1 CENT 1710-1773



Old history of Malaysia isn't very know for absence of archaeological rests,it was divided in States separated by fluvial valleys.The first kingdom know was Kedah,according to the Chinese and sanskrit sources from the 8th century BCE.After in the century the muslims arrived being Malacca centre of islamic expansion.The Portuguese arrived in 1511 and the Dutch in 1641.
During the 17th century five Sultanates minted coin,JOHOR,PERAK,PAHANG,KELANTAN AND KEDAH,two centuries after the next were TERENGGANU,PERLIS,SELANGOR,NEGERI SEMBILAN AND PAHANG.
Between 1527-1800 a big variety of tin coins was minted.These pieces in the ruler of Kedah Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Muazzan Shah 11 between 1710-1773.Every ring has had a value of one cent of Spanish Philippines peso.Some of the rings were still in circulation up to the 1850's with equivalence of one ring for 10 pieces of the Singapore Merchant Token (keping)
